Hintz, Rev. Herman C. (29 July 1877 - 10 November 1953) 
 

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 13, for the Rev. Herman C. Hintz, 76, 1402 Hewett Street, Neillsville, who died Nov. 10, in Eau Claire. 
 

The Rev. Alfred Schewe of St. John’s Lutheran Church officiated at services in St. John’s Lutheran Church Friday afternoon.  Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. 
 

Rev. Hintz fractured his hip and was admitted to the Neillsville Hospital October 9.  On October 17 he entered Luther Hospital, Eau Claire. 
 

He was born July 29, 1877, at Ripon, to John and Amelia (Bloch) Hintz.  He attended DR. Martin Luther College at New Ulm, Minn., Concordia College, St. Paul, Concordia College, Milwaukee and Concordia Seminary at St. Louis, Mo., from which he was graduated and was ordained in 1902. 
 

Rev. Hintz served the following pastorates: Whatcom, Wash., 1902; West Duluth, 1904; Town of Lowell, Minn., 1908; South branch, Minn., 1917; Emerald, 1925, and North Spencer, 1930-1950, retiring August 31, 1950.  He came to Neillsville in 1950, when he purchased a home on Hewett Street. 
 

Rev. Hintz was married November 2, 1904, at Oshkosh, to Lydia Becker, who preceded him in death February 27, 1944. 
 

Surviving are three daughters, Lydia, who made her home with her father; Mrs. Dorothy Kopplin, Eau Claire; and Cordelia (Mrs. Earl Berg), Marshfield; a sister, Lena (Mrs. Heyo) Uken, Thompson, N. D.; and two brothers, DR. J. F. Hintz, Ledgerwood, N. D., and W. F. Hintz of Yakima, Wash. 
 

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, who died in infancy and three sisters. 
 

The 5, 6. 7. and 8th grade children of the Lutheran School, accompanied by Victor Lehman, sang, "I Fall Asleep in Jesus’ Wounds." 
 

Pallbearers were Charles Tews, Wilbert Kalsow, Paul Jacob, Ferdinand Weisjahn, Walter Borde and Emil Schendel.
