Christophersen, Shirley  (25 NOV 1939-31 OCT 2009)

 

Shirley M. Christophersen, 69, formerly of Greenwood, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at The Dorchester Health and Rehab Center, Sturgeon Bay. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Greenwood. The Rev. Terri Blomberg officiated. Burial followed in the Greenwood City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Mike Woehrle, Peter Christophersen. Curtiss Mayenschein, John Mayenscein, Chris Stemen, Dennis Stemen, Keith Kaiman and Kane Kaimen.

 

Shirley Meta Abel was born on Nov. 25, 1939, in Greenwood, to dairy farmers, Edward and Fern (nee Vine) Abel. She was raised on the family farm outside of Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School. She later moved to Milwaukee where she found employment and married Reed Gardner Frame. They were graced with beloved daughters. Following her husband’s untimely death, she returned to Greenwood. She later met and married Gordon J. Christophersen, who was a wonderful stepfather to her daughters. The new couple were blessed with a son, to the delight of his sisters. She had numerous degrees and certificates of higher learning and held many jobs over the course of her lifetime. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Greenwood American Legion Post #238 Ladies Auxiliary. Her interests included spending time with her grandchildren, volunteering, community service, reading, puzzles, visiting with family and friends and day trips with her husband.

 

Survivors include her children, Wanda (Dennis) Steman, Marshfield, Sherri (Keith) Kaiman, Cedarburg, Deanna Frame, Stugeon Bay, Sue (Mike) Woehrle, Vadnais Heights, Minn., Shane (Kim) Christophersen, Plover; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Richard (Donna) Abel, Willard, Laverne (Tim) Martens, Greenfield, Joanne (Don) Koivisto, Chippewa Falls; her stepchildren, Pete (Ellen) Christophersen, Clintonville, Betty (Ronald) Fuglsang, Ham Lake, Minn., Sue (Jack) Volovsek, Wausau. Gordon Lee Christophersen, Tomah, Wendy (William) Christophersen, Madison, and Ardis (Darrel) Brown, McFarland; many nieces, nephews; and other relatives and friends.

 

Preceding her in death were her devoted husband, Gordon J. Christophersen; her first husband, Reed Frame; her parents, Edward and Fern Abel.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
