Widmer, Arlene  (Marriage - 4 September 1954)

St. John’s Lutheran Church at Riplinger was the scene on Saturday afternoon, September 4, of the marriage of Miss Arlene Widmer and William Marten, both of Spencer.  She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Widmer of Spencer and he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Steele of Abbotsford.  The Rev. Paul Maul performed the ceremony.

The bride wore a white net over satin floor length gown.  The skirt was of four tiers. The bodice was designed with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves and the fingertip veil fell from a crown decorated with pearls and sequins.  Her bouquet was of red roses and white pompoms.

Mrs. Eugene Marten, sister-in-law of the groom, was her matron of honor. She wore a strapless orchid gown of daisy trimmed net over taffeta with a matching jacket.

Mrs. Wilbur Witte, Riplinger, and Miss Betty Cammers, Genoa City, served as her bridesmaids.  They were dresses like the matron of honor in mint green and coral respectively.  All three attendants carried bouquets of white carnations tinted to match their gowns.

Eugene Marten attended the groom as best man.  Wilbur Witte and Richard Kops were groomsmen.  Donald Winters of Beaver Dam and Dennis Seefeld, Spencer, ushered.

Judy Widmer, the bride’s little sister, and Diane Bunkleman, of Chippewa Falls, dressed in white net over taffeta and carrying a pink and white floral piece, were flower girls.  Jerry Marten, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

The wedding supper was served in the church parlor.

The bride is a graduate of the Loyal High School and her husband attended the Abbotsford High School.

After a honeymoon spent in southern Wisconsin they will live in Riplinger, where the groom is employed in a cheese factory.
