Mickett, Beverly A.. (24 MAY 1955)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood, Clark Co., Wis. was the setting of a double wedding on May 24th, 1955, when Miss Alice Marie Mickett and Miss Beverly Ann Mickett became the brides of Claude Benzschawel and Eugene A. Benzschawel and Eugene A. Benzschawel, respectively.  The bride are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. William Mickett, Route 3, Greenwood, and the grooms are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Benzschawel, Thorp.

The double ring ceremony performed by Father Hartung at a nine o’clock nuptial high Mass.

The brides were identically dressed in floor length gowns of white net over taffeta, fashioned with full skirt with tiers of ruffles on the sides.  The tight fitted bodice featured a rounded neckline with a row of ruffles the same as on the skirts.  Their fingertip veils were secured by crowns which featured seed pearls and sequins.  Each carried a bouquet of red roses and white stephanotis.

The brides’ aunt, Mrs. Dolores Bolf, the grooms’ sister, Miss Joan Benzschawel and the brides’ sister, Miss Dorothy Mickett, attended the brides.  All were dressed in gowns of white featuring handkerchief points on the skirt with bolero jackets.  Their colonial bouquets consisted of bachelor buttons with centers of yellow carnations.

William Benzschawel, and Francis Benzschawel, brother of the grooms and William Mickett, Jr., brother of the brides, served the groom.  John Bolf, uncle of the brides, and Elmer Heiman, cousin of the grooms, ushered.

The brides’ mother wore a beige suit with orchid accessories and a corsage of white carnations.  The mother of the grooms attended in a navy blue dress with corsage of white carnations.

A dinner for the immediate families was served at 11:30 in the church hall, followed by a reception and supper for 200 guests at St. Hedwig’s Hall, Thorp.

The brides graduated from Greenwood High School and the grooms from Thorp High School.
