Gulcynski, Wanda (20 March 1919 - 2 January 2010) 
 

Wanda Gulcynski, age 90, of Blaine, MN (formerly of Thorp), passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN.  
 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Helwig Catholic Church in Thorp with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery. 
 

Pallbearers will be: Steve Rinehart, Aaron Gulcynski, Loren Gulcynski, Robert Mikolainis, Monte McManus and Ryan Lewallen.  Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, January 8, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. 
 

Wanda Kmieciak was born on March 20, 1919, in the Town of Thorp, rural Stanley, WI, and was the 13th child of Casmier and Veronica (Logman) Kmieciak.  She received her education at the Peterson School and worked various places before marrying Louis Gulcynski on June 29, 1937. 
 

Louis and Wanda bought a 60-acre farm shortly after they were married and farmed there for eight years.  They then bought a 115-acre farm three miles south of Thorp in the Town of Reseburg in 1945.  She and her husband farmed there until Louis passed away. After her husband died, Wanda continued to farm with her three youngest children, until David was old enough and married, to take over the family farm. 
 

Wanda then moved into the city of Thorp where she lived for 22 years.  She worked at the Thorp Elementary School as a cook fro two years and then retired.  She sold her house in Thorp and moved to Mounds View, MN where she lived for five years.  She ten moved to Blaine, MN and lived there the rest of her remaining days. 
 

Wanda loved cooking, sewing, decorating wedding cakes, and crocheting.  She loved to spend time making Christmas ornaments to hang on the Christmas tree.  And most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
 

She is survived by three daughters: LouAnn (Rick) Best, Dianne (Doug) Rinehart, and Marilyn Gulcynski; two sons: Donald (Linda) Gulcynski and David (Connie) Gulcynski; 17 grandchildren: Carol (Victor) Jugo, Robert Mikolainis, Cathy (Greg) Kuhl, Michelle Perez, Mike (Linda) Perez, Nicole Gulcynski, David Gulcynski, Christopher Fields, Geri Gulcynski, Aaron Gulcynski, Toni (Monte) McManus, Teri (Ryan) Lewallen, Loren Gulcynski, Janae (Jeff) Herdina, Tracee (Derek) Morrison, Steve Rinehart, and Kerry Gulcynski; and 23 great-grandchildren: Kristin & Carly Jugo, Kaitlyn, Kevin & Kyle Kuhl, Tyler Kyle, &Jenna Perez, Taylor Trissel, Megan & Jack Reed, Matthew Gulcynski, Morgan & Jacob Peleschak, Connor & Lucas Wagner, Gracie Jo & Justin McManus, Kaylee & Dylan Lewallen, Madison & Alexander Herdina, and Abigail Arnold. 
 

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis, in 1971; one daughter, Darlene Mikolainis in 1999; eight brothers and four sisters. 
 

Wanda was greatly thankful for the loving care she received from her children.  She will be greatly missed by all.
