Southworth, Alice (5 OCT 1955)

Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Owen was the scene of the ceremony which united Miss Mary Alice Southworth and Lee Edmond Hessefort in marriage Wednesday morning.  The bride’s home has been at Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claire E. Southworth.  The bridegroom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Hessefort of route 3, Medford.

The 9 a.m. ceremony was performed by the Rev. Herbert L. Grubel.

Rings for the wedding were carried in Calla lilies by the bride’s twin brothers, Dennis and Danny Southworth.

For her wedding, the bride chose a floor length dress with a fitted jacket of Rosepoint type lace finished with a small rolled collar.  The lace bodice extended into a point over the bouffant skirt and lace matching that of the gown edged her fingertip veil of illusion net.  Seed pearls and rhinestones trimmed the hat to which the veil was attached.

A large cluster of red roses backed with a lace doily formed the bridal bouquet tied with white streamers.

Violet flowers to match her dress and rhinestone trimmed headband, were carried by Bernice Southworth, who was her sister’s maid of honor.

Another sister of the bride, Charlotte Southworth, and the bridegroom’s sister, Linda Hessefort from Medford, were bridesmaids.  Lace ruffles encircled the skirts of their floor length jacketed dresses.  Their bouquets were of baby mums mounted on a lace doily.

Serving as best man was the bridegroom’s brother, Donald Hessefort from Medford.  Groomsmen were John Southworth, a brother of the bride, and Conrad Bolz from Medford.

Guests were seated by two brothers of the bride, Don Southworth from Wausau, and George Southworth, Withee.

The bride’s home was opened after the wedding to wedding breakfast and dinner guests, and for the reception.  The wedding dance was held at Memorial Hall in Dorchester.

After a Canadian honeymoon, the newlyweds will take up residence in Medford, where Mr. Hessefort is employed by the Hurd Millwork Corp.

He is a graduate of the Medford High School, while his bride is an Owen High School graduate.
