Van Ert, Donna M. (8 OCT 1955)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stanley was decorated with fall flowers Saturday morning, Oct. 8th, 1955, for the marriage of Miss Donna M. Van Ert to Jerome W. Hedler.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Van Ert, Stanley, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Hedler, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).

The Rev. Ralph Geissler read the double ring ceremony at 9 a.m.

A bouquet of white and purple throated orchids imported from Hawaii was carried by the bride.  Her gown featured an imported Chantilly lace bodice with a V-neckline and long tapered sleeves, a long torso waistline, a bustle, and nylon tulle skirt with graduated floor length hemline.  A pearl crown held her elbow length veil.

Bridesmaids were Jacqueline Hedler, sister of the groom, and Ione Truse, sister of the bride, both wearing "moonbeam" taffeta; Carole Pagel, cousin of the bride, of Milwaukee, and Rita Slupski, Thorp, both wearing honey-colored taffeta; Jeanette Van Ert, sister-in-law of the bride, and Suellen Pagel, Milwaukee, cousin of the bride, wearing "bittersweet" taffeta.  Their gowns were styled with round neckline, long torsos, and floor length skirts.  They carried bouquets of imported orchids matching the colors of their gowns.

Joyce Hedler, the groom’s sister, was flower girl.  She wore a "moonbeam" colored dress and carried orchids.

Best man for the groom was Duane Van Ert, brother of the bride.  Groomsmen were Sylvester Hedler, Armon Schmidt, and Joel Schmidt, all cousins of the groom.  Gerald Van Ert, twin brother of the bride, and Allen Van Ert, cousin of the bride.

High Mass was sung by St. Mary’s choir, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Thorpe as organist.  Soloist for the wedding was Leonard Cesafsky, cousin of the bride.

The bride’s mother wore a rose beige tunic dress of brocaded faille and an orchid corsage.  The groom’s mother wore a purple velvet dress with an orchid corsage for the wedding.

A reception was held in the afternoon at St. Hedwig’s Parish Hall, Thorp.

The bride chose a tan knit suit with beige accessories for her going away costume.  She had a white orchid corsage.

They are living in Stanley.
