Esther J. H. Pachal, 88, Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center Health and Rehab, Neillsville. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial followed in the Lutheran Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Pachal, Luke Pachal, Jeremy Pachal, Bill Perrine, Kevin Perrine, Rod English, Bill English and Mark English.

 

Esther Julia Hulda Karnopp was born on April 30, 1921, in the town of Beaver, to Louis and Emma {nee Becket} Karnopp. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at Oak Grove School. After completing her schooling, she worked as a nanny in the Loyal area. She married Frank Martin Pachal on Aug. 5, 1939, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Riplinger. She was a housewife and farmed with her husband in the town of Beaver until 1969, at which time they sold the farm and moved into the city of Loyal. Her husband died on Jan. 13, 1970. She then worked at the bakery in Loyal and worked as a cook for the Loyal School District for 16 years. She continued to reside in Loyal until moving to the Neillsville Retirement Community in 2001.

 

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the TLCW, and had many interests, but especially loved baking apple pies, playing any kind of cards, Crocheting, embroidering, sewing and word finds.

 

She will be dearly missed by her children, Marlene (William) English, Savenport, Fla., Milton (Rita) Pachal, Wausau, Carolyn Perrine, Sun Prairie, Sandra (Harold) Drescher, Neillsville, Randall (Kathy) Pachal, Hayward, Eugene (Patti) Pachal, Dane, Karen (Larry) Stargardt, Marshfield, and Sharon (Jeff) Rasmussen, Marshfield; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several  step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Alice Lavene, Neillsville; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; two great-grandchildren, Jacklyn English and Gloria Rinehart; one son-in-law, William Perrine; three sisters, Elda Neumann, Linda Delo, and Alice Raatz; and two brothers, Clarence Karnopp and Wilbert Karnopp.
