Dankemyer, William (Injured - 1957) 
 

William Dankemyer suffered a fracture of his left leg above the knee and bruises when he fell 26 feet to the ground from a barn on the John Lucas farm, near Nasonville, Friday evening. 
 

One of the neighbors and friends taking part in a barn-raising "bee", Mr. Dankemyer was working on the addition when he fell.  He was removed to Memorial Hospital, Neillsville by ambulance. 
 

Among his visitors there were Mr. and Mrs. Dean Jevens of Portage, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Howard and children of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Arno Ross of Holcombe.

William and Ruby Dankernyer Family

Mr. and Mrs. William Dankemyer, Rt. 1, Granton, were married by the Rev. Martin Hasz Oct. 17, 1917, in Zion Lutheran Church, Granton. William, son of August and Carrie (Caroline Johanna Handke/Hanke) Dankemyer, was born in the town of Fremont Dec. 5, 1893, and attended school in that township. He lived in Fremont before his marriage and worked on the farm. Mrs. Dankemyer was a dressmaker, formerly Ruby Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Martin. After their marriage the couple purchased the John Martin farm. William worked for 17 years for the Lynn Telephone Company. The couple's two daughters are Mrs. Robert (Mona) Howard, Marshfield, and Mrs. Dean (Ione) Jerens, Portage. There are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
