Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Oberbillig of Eau Claire announce the marriage of their daughter, Lila Frances, to Nick Kaplar, formerly of Chicago, son of Mrs. Cecilia Kohniak of Withee. The wedding took place at the home of the groom’s mother at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19. The double ring ceremony was oerformed by the Rev. Fr. Michael Malitich of the Russian Orthodox church of Lubin.

 

The couple was attended by Joan Jean Smith of Loyal, a niece of the bride, and George Kohniak, brother of the groom.

 

A wedding dimmer was served to the immediate families, and a super and reception were given in the evening.

 

Both the bride and groom are veterans of World War ll, Mrs. Kaplar servind as a WAC sergeant, at General hospital, Camp Pickett, Va., and Regional hospital, Fort Meade, Md., and Mr. Kaplay having been held a prisoner of war by the Japanese for 3 ½ years after being taken on Bataan.

 

Prenuptial showers were given at the Lyle Shepler and Phil Champian homes.

 

Out of town guests at the wedding were Mrs. Ethel Bowen and son, Robert and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bowen and family of Curtiss; Floyd Bowen of San Francisco, Cal.; James Smith and daughters, LaVada, Janice and Joan of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Zorval of Withee, Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Oberbillig of Eau Claire, and William Joyce of Greenwood.

 

The bride was the sister of the late Mrs. James A. Smith of Loyal and is well known in this vicinity, having visited here many times.

 

The Loyal Tribune extends to the young couple its wishes for happiness.
