Braatz, Herman (2 March 1881 - 19 July 1957)

Herman Braatz, 76, a lifelong resident of the Town of Grant, died July 19, in Neillsville.  He suffered a stroke several weeks ago.  Funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Zion Lutheran Church at Granton.  The Rev. Marvin Beninga officiated.  Burial was made in the church cemetery.

Mr. Braatz was born March 2, 1881, in the Town of Grant and lived on his father’s farm until his marriage to Nellie Reuge on June 26, 1907. They bought a farm of their own and continued to farm until 10 years ago, when he retired because of ill health.

He had been an agent and director of the Lynn Mutual Insurance Company since his retirement from farming.  He was active in the affairs of Clark County, having served as town chairman for several years, and was a member of the county highway committee.  He also served on the Clark County fair board, and at one time was a member of the County school committee.

Mr. Braatz is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Esther Treichler of Menomonee Falls; and three sons, Donald of Neillsville; Irwin of Rice Lake, and Victor of the Town of Grant; a brother, Henry of Neillsville, and 10 grandchildren.
