In Loving Memory of Elmer Edward Steiger, M.D.

 

Elmer Steiger passed away on August 17, 2009 at the age of 94.

 

He was born in Greenwood, Wisconsin on December 11, 1915. He attended the University of Wisconsin where he received his Medical Degree. He met his wife to be, Hallie Jane Hall, while he was an intern in Duluth, Minnesota and she was a Registered Nursing student. They married in 1941. They had two children, William Charles and Mary Jane.

 

Elmer and Hallie established a Medical Practice in Plum City, Wisconsin. He was a General Practitioner with special interests in Obstetrics and Surgery. Dr. Steiger and his wife were both very much loved and respected by the Community where he administered the only hospital for the area.

 

In 1956 the family moved to Canoga Park, California. There he became an orange Rancher. He also had a Medical Practice in Newhall, California. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie, in 1975. His last home was in Fillmore, California where he continued to grow oranges.

 

His family will miss him very much. Son William Steiger and his wife Dani. Grandchildren Daniel, Charlie, Catee, Lesha and Forrest Steiger of Fillmore, California. Daughter Mary Iwasiuk and her husband Gösta. Granddaughter Amber McCalister and her husband Michael. Great Granddaughter Hailey McCalister of Santa Paula, California. Sister Elsie Arneson and her husband Ary. Their children Charles, Sally, Jay, and Sarah and their extended families of Spring Valley, Wisconsin.

A memorial service is planned for Sunday, September 6, 2009
