Venet, Helmi M. (7 APR 1875 - 5 APR 1956)

 

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Monday afternoon for Mrs. Isaac Venet.  Final rites were conducted from Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church, Owen, with Rev. John Saarinen officiating.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Charles Kangas, Frank Stone, Otto Hakola, Ed Nevela, Art Laine and Kauno Niemi.  Floral offerings were in charge of Mrs. Leslie Buss, Mrs. William Kangas, Mrs. Sylvia Kangas and Mrs. Newell Wilson.

 

The deceased was lying in state to friends and relatives at Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home Saturday evening and Sunday.

 

Helmi Marie Venet, nee Rosi, was born April 7, 1875, at Janri-Jarvi Finland.  She came to the United States in the year 1900 and was united in marriage in 1901 to Isaac Victor Venet at Ironwood, Mich.

 

To this marriage was born seven sons and three daughters.

 

They returned to Finland in 1902, returning to the United States in 1903.  They settled at Wakefield, Mich., until 1915 when they moved to a farm at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), where they resided until the death of her husband in 1934.

 

She was a lifelong member of the Finnish Lutheran Church.

 

Two sons, Jalmer and Armas, and a daughter, Impi (Mrs. Chester Dunevant), preceded her in death.

 

Following a lengthy illness she passed away April 5, 1956 at the Havenet Rest Home at Owen at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 28 days.

 

She leaves to mourn her death five sons, Elmer of Withee, Edward of Elmhurst, Ill., Donald of Waukegan, Ill., Orville of Tower, Minn., and Annie of North Chicago, Ill.; and two daughters, Taimi (Mrs. Douglas Gould) of Waukegan, Ill., and Lempie (Mrs. James Barrenbrugge) of Wadsworth, Ill.

 

Also one brother, Francis Rosi in Finland, and one sister, Mrs. Nestor Lannet of Paynesville, Mich., and a number of cousins, nephews and nieces in Finland and here, eight grandchildren and a host of friends here.
