Winchell, Martha E. (Haufe) (August 22, 1915 - April 2, 2010) 
 

Martha E. Winchell, 94, Abbotsford formerly of Dorchester, died at Inn Care of Abbotsford, Friday, April 2, 2010 under the loving care of Hope Hospice.  
 

Martha was born August 22, 1915, in the town of Little Black to Max and Elizabeth (Koch) Haufe.   
 

She attended a rural Dorchester grade school until eight grade when she helped on the family farm in the town of Mayville.   
 

Martha married Ernest Winchell on September 9, 1944, in Dorchester.   
 

They moved to Ernest’s parent’s farm which they eventually owned. In her spare time, she loved to embroider and crochet.   
 

Martha is survived by her children, Judy (Jerry) Schultz, Abbotsford, Susan Messmann, Dorchester, and Alvin (Twink" (Mary) Winchell, Dorchester, ten grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lillian (Alvin) Stauner, Medford.   
 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons in infancy; a borther Roland Haufe; and a sister, Bertha Winchell. 

 
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, April 7 at Peace United Church of Christ in Dorchester at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Bonnie Jacque will preside. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will follow in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joel Winchell, Craig Messmann, Mike Messmann, Kevin Schultz, Roger Haufe and Nicole Winchell.
