Reckner, Virgil (17 Apr 1936 - 18 Apr 2010)

Virgil A. Reckner, 74, Spencer, entered into the fullness of eternal life on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Aspirus Hospital, Wausau. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, April 21, at Christ Lutheran Church, Marshfield. The Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiated. Burial was in Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Marshfield. Serving as pallbearers were Gordon and Caleb Boos, Dave Gano, and Chris, Corey and Curt Endreas. Military rites were conducted by the American Legion Post #54 of Marshfield at the church following the services.

Vircil A. Reckner was born on April 17, 1936, to Emil and Marcia (nee Sanders) Reckner in the town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County. He attended Wescott School and graduated from Stratford High School in 1955. On Sept. 9, 1961, he married Audrey M. Leffel at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, March Rapids, Marathon County. He went to work for Roddis Plywood Corp., then was drafted into the United States Army. After his military services, he returned to Roddis and later became employed at Felker Bros. Manufacturing as a welder. He retired from Felker Bros. in 1999.

He loved his cottage, fishing, snowmobiling, dancing, bowling, four-wheeling and time with his family. He taught his grandchildren how to fish and took them on pontoon rides. He was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewer fan and most of all, a Spencer Rocket fan. He always wanted the best for his family.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey; three children, Rhonda (Dave) Gano, Poplar Grove, Ill., Randy (Gail) Reckner, Spencer, and Rochelle (Gordon) Boos, Menomonie; and six grandchildren, Chris (Kelly) Endreas, Corey (Tamara Hurst) Endreas and Curt Endreas, Caeb and Cortni Boos and Kallie Reckner.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Gene Reckner, Duane Reckner and Marvin Reckner; and his father-in-law, Bernard Leffel, and mother-in-law, Gladys Leffel.

A memorial will be established at a later date.
