Fritz, Valerie Anne (13 OCT 1956)

The First Congregational Church was the setting chosen by Miss Valerie Anne Fritz and George L. Himes, when they exchanged their wedding vows on Saturday, Oct. 13th, 1956, at two o’clock.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elton J. Fritz of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur E. Himes, Jr., of Owen.  The Rev. Ralph Claybaugh read the double ring ceremony.

Miss Joanne Zalobsky of Eau Claire played the nuptial music and accompanied Jean Jensen, Eau Claire, when she sang "Because" and "I Love You Truly."

The bride given in marriage by her father, chose a floor length gown of French Chantilly lace panels set in net over white bridal satin, styled with a fitted torso, a Queen Anne collar and wrist length tapering sleeves of lace.  Her imported silk illusion veil was held by a lace half hat trimmed with tiny pearls and sequins.  She carried a cascade bouquet of red sweetheart roses and mums caught in the white ribbon, white pompom mums with roses and streamers.

A sister of the bride, Miss Reva Fritz, served as the maid of honor, wearing a floor length gown of blue net over taffeta fashioned strapless and hip ruffles trimmed in silver braid.  A matching headdress of net was worn.  She carried a colonial bouquet of white and blue pompom mums.

Miss Yvonne Himes, sister of the groom, wore a dress styled identically to that of the maid of honor’s, which was pink and her flowers were pink and white pompom mums.

The groom was attended by his brother, Leonard Himes, and the bride’s brother, Arden, ushered.  The groom and his attendants wore white dinner jackets and dark trousers and red rose boutonnieres.

The bride’s mother witnessed the ceremony in a dress of navy blue print on which she pinned a corsage of blue and white pompom mums.  The groom’s mother wore a copper colored dress and a corsage of blue and white pompom mums.

After the service a reception as held in the church parlors where the new Mr. and Mrs. Himes were greeted by their guests.

The bride is a graduate of the Owen High School, class of 1955, and attended the Luther Hospital School of Nursing in Eau Claire.  The groom graduated from the Owen High School and attended the Wis. State College at River Falls.

Out of town guests attended from Owen, Withee, Curtiss, Eau Claire, Thorp, Greenwood, Marshfield, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Hammond, Menomonie and Waukegan, Ill.
