Sapetta, Anton E. (13 OCT 1875 - 24 NOV 1957)

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church at Thorp for Anton E. Sapetta, 82, who died of a heart attack Sunday at the Medford Hospital, where he was taken for treatment of shock after his pickup truck overturned Nov. 10 near that city.  Mr. Sapetta was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.

The Rev. Francis Piekarski was celebrant at the funeral Mass and officiated at graveside rites in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Sapetta was born in Poland Oct. 13, 1875, and came to the United States at the age of 21.  He and Helen LaSota were married at St. Hedwig’s Church here in 1910.  Before moving to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) 11 years ago, Mr. Sapetta farmed at Redville in the town of Maplehurst in Taylor County.  He served in the town offices of justice of the peace, supervisor and clerk.  He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Hedwig’s and of the PRCU and ZNP.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Anton (Marie) Biddese, Chicago, and Mrs. Thomas (Irene) Hines, Wausau; and two brothers, Edmund of Lublin and Felix of Eau Claire.
