Derks, Ellen F. (21 March 1925 - 13 July 2010)

 

Ellen F. Derks, age 85, of Chippewa Falls, WI, formerly of Stanley, WI passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire, WI.  Ellen was born March 21, 1925 on the family farm in the Town of Reseburg, Thorp, WI, the daughter of Arthur and Isabelle (Frese) Meyer.  She grew up on the family farm, attending area rural schools.  Ellen was a woman of many talents, raising her nine children and also spending many hours refinishing and reupholstering antique furniture. 

 

She is also survived by her children: Gerald (Rose) Derks of Cadott, WI; Shirley (Ken) Nayes of Boyd, WI; Arthur (Kay) Derks of Spencer, WI; Linda (Bernard) Slowiak, Daniel (Vicki) Derks and Lorraine Derks all of Stanley, WI; Jeanine Johnson of Chippewa Falls, WI; Rosemary (Charles) Bourget of Elk Mound, WI; Rick (Dine) Derks of Bloomer, WI; 23 grandchildren, plus many great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers: George (Geraldine) Meyer of Minot, North Dakota, and Alfred (Pat) Meyer of Gilman, WI; sisters: Arleen Derks of Stanley, WI, Evelyn (Alan) Kowalczyk of Gilman, WI, Edna Duce of St. Louis, Missouri, and Bernadine (Jim) Kelly of Ontario, WI.  She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Christopher; son-in-law, Tim Johnson; three brothers: Elroy, Emil, & Arthur "Todd" Meyer; and one sister Delilah Timm.

 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel Stanley, WI with Pastor Randy Vandeloo officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sylvan Cemetery, Thorp, WI.  Friends and family may call on Friday evening from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Plombon Funeral Chapel, Stanley, WI.
