Hancock, Janice (30 JUL 1966)

A double ring wedding was performed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church July 30, 1966, at 10 a.m., uniting Miss Janice Hancock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hancock, Lesterville, S.D., and Gilbert R. Straus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Straus, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).

The Rev. Donald Molumby officiated before an altar appointed with white gladioli.  Mrs. James Fitzgerald, organist, and the church choir provided liturgical music.

The bride, who entered the church with her father, chose a floor length sheath gown of candlelight rayon and acetate.  Baroque venise lace bordered the hemline and short sleeves.  The detachable panel train was appliqued with loral medallions.  Her illusion elbow length veil was held in place by a pearlized petal headdress.  She carried a white orchid set in stephanotis and ivy, on a prayer book.  Her diamond pendant was a gift of the bridegroom.

Mrs. Carol Hancock, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor.  Kathleen Kaeberle, DeSmet, and Mrs. Vivian Straughan, Milwaukee, sister of the groom, were bridesmaids.  All were in floor length powder blue crepe formals made with removable back panels.  They were dyed to match headpieces and short white gloves, gifts of the bride.  The attendants carried bouquets of white gladioli and blue delphiniums.

Robert Hancock of Newark Calif., brother of the bride, was best man.  Groomsmen were Budd Pedersen, Lesterville, and Robert Straughan of Milwaukee.  Melvin Ulmer and Ed Wagner of Lesterville ushered.

A reception for 110 guests was held at the Black Steer restaurant Yankton, S.D.

After a honeymoon trip to several western states, the couple will be at home in Wausau, Wis.  Both will be teaching this fall.
