McConnell, Robert W. #2 (2 APR 1882 - 19 MAY 1966)

Robert W. McConnell was born April 2, 1882, to George and Sarah McConnell at Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wis.

On June 12, 1907 he was united in marriage to Isabelle Peterson.  To this union three children were born, a son Roy of Beloit; two daughters, (Edna) Mrs. Arnold Hubert of Milwaukee, and (Mabel) Mrs. Ole Sather, who preceded him in death Oct. 2, 1962.

The couple farmed in the Greenwood area until their retirement in 1943 when they moved to the City of Greenwood.  Since 1963 they had resided at the Memorial Home in Neillsville.

He passed away at the age of 84 years, May 19, 1966, at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital where he had been confined for the past two weeks due to flu and pneumonia.

In addition to his wife, survivors are a daughter, (Edna) Mrs. Arnold Hubert of Milwaukee; a son Roy of Beloit; two sisters, Mrs. Freeman Christie, Neillsville; Mrs. Isabelle Jordan of Washington; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  Besides his daughter Mabel, 3 brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 1966 at the Hill Funeral Home, Rev. Carl Booher, pastor of Grace Methodist Church, officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were all nephews: James McConnell, Clayton McConnell, Arthur, Eugene, Ernest and John Christie.

Mrs. Wayne Voss, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Booher, sang "Jesus is Always There" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Out of town persons attending were: Mr. and Mrs. John Christie of Anoka, Minn.; Mrs. Tony Schullo, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Christie, La Cross; Mr. Clayton McConnell of Ellsworth, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Christie, Mrs. Freeman Christie, Neillsville; Mrs. Arlene Lobner, Auburndale; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Brawa, Mundelein, Ill./; Mr. Ole Sather; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hubert, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dethloff and son Mike, Mrs. Oscar Rear, all of Milwaukee; Mr. Roy McConnell and daughter Doris of Beloit; Mrs. Bessie Velte, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Wright, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Roy Clark, Mrs. Roohr, Mrs. Louis Burhap, all of Owen.
