Beaver, Donald W. (19 MAY 1928 - 18 AUG 2010)

 

WESTFIELD -- Donald "Pud" W. Beaver, 82, of Westfield, passed away surrounded by his family Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage.

He was born May 19, 1928, in Loyal, son of the late William and Clara (Attelyn-Schwieso) Beaver. Donald married Beverley Jean Gregory in June 1949. They spent their first six years of married life as farmers in rural Loyal, until the barn burned down. For the remainder of Donald's working life, he was well-known as a woodsman and logger. He enjoyed building and playing steel guitars, especially in his family band, the Kountry Kings. His other loves were hunting, fishing, working with horses, his dogs and most of all, spending time with his family.

Survivors include his nine children, Thomas (Conde) of Portage, Dennis (Peggy) of Ariz., Dean (Amy) of Westfield, Lawrie (Jean) of Marshfield, Gary (Heidi) of Westfield, Douglas (Teresa) of Coloma, Therese of Westfield, Annette (Bruce) Daczyk of Junction City and Bonnie (William) Finn of Dale; 77 grandchildren and great grandchildren; one sister, Jeanette (Don) Cole of Marshfield; sister-in-law, Orel Schwieso of Colby; other relatives and many friends. Donald was preceded in death by his former wife, Beverley Jean; son, Ronald; two grandsons, Brandon Beaver and Aaron Weyer; one granddaughter, Jessica Henkel; three sisters, Veronica, Evelyn and Lucille; and brother Ted Schwieso.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Loyal. Interment will be in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Steinhaus-Holly Funeral Home in Westfield, with a rosary service at 7 p.m. A visitation will also be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church in Loyal.
