On Feb. 10, 1966, Chris Brick blew out the candles on his 93rd birthday cake, at the Greenwood Café.  Mr. and Mrs. Sam Grap, Mrs. Geneva Olson of the Hotel, and Mrs. Bob Carl provided the party honoring Chris.

Chris was born in Manitowoc Co. and his first memory is that of getting off the train in Spencer when he was 3 years old.  Mr. Buker, father of Ed, met the train and brought the family out to a piece of land near the present Rasmussen Cheese Factory.  In 1876 there were only 3 families in the 3 miles between them and the Black River, the Millers, Reineking’s and Bukers.

Guests at the party included: Sam Grap, Henry Olson, whom Chris Learned to know in the 1880’s; Harold Stabnow, Carl Krogness,, Dr. R. L. Barnes, Ervin Leach, Pastor Myhrwold and Graham Proier.
