Michels, Pfc. Victor L. (8 May 1913 - 29 December 1942)

 

A Memorial Requiem High Mass will be read Friday morning at 9 o’clock at Corpus Christie Catholic Church at Bakerville for Pfc. Victor L. Michels, 29, son of Mr. and Mrs. William S. Michels, route 3, Marshfield, who died Dec. 29, 1942, while in Buna-Gona, New Guinea.

 

The Rev. Arthur Cramer will be the officiating clergyman and burial will take place at Bakerville. The body is scheduled to arrive Thursday evening at 10:30 o’clock and will be taken to the Rembs Funeral Home until the time of the services Friday morning.

 

The serviceman was born in the Town of Richfield May 8, 1913, and attended public and parochial schools at Bakerville.  He left with the local National Guard unit in October, 1940, after having been employed by the Marshfield Brick and Tile Company.  He left for Australia in April, 1942.

 

Surviving besides his parents are three sisters and a brother: Mrs. Art (Irene) Trieckel, Milwaukee; Norbert, route 3, Marshfield; Mrs. Arthur (Dorothy) Schmitt, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Marvin (Edna) Pilsner, Marshfield.
