Schwellenbach, Earl Edward (15 July 1900 - 4 January 1959)

 

Earl Edward Schwellenbach, 58, Merrillan, died Sunday in the Marshfield Hospital which he had entered two days before. 

 

Funeral services were held this morning (Thursday) from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Joseph Eisenmann officiated.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery.  A general rosary service was said Wednesday evening at the Bergemann Funeral Home.

 

Earl Schwellenbach, son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Beyer) Schwellenbach, was born July 15, 1900, in the Town of Weston.  He attended the Weston schools and St. Mary’s Catholic school in Neillsville.

 

On October 17, 1928, he was married to Tillie Hauser in Neillsville. He was engaged in farming until 1945, when he was forced to quit due to loss of a leg.  He learned the shoe repair trade and worked for a year in Owen.  He went into business for himself in Merrillan in 1948, staying there three years.  He then moved to Neillsville where he opened a shop on W. 7th Street and stayed for three and one-half years before moving back to Merrillan.

 

He is survived by his wife and a son, John, of Neillsville; a brother, Roland, Medford; two sisters, Mrs. Anton (Eleanor) Spangler, Loyal, and Mrs. Allie (Margaret) Schmidt, Loyal; and a half-brother William Schwellenbach, Neillsville.

A requiem high mass was read Thursday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic Church for Earl Edward Schwellenbach, Merrillan, who died January 4, at Marshfield. The Rev. Joseph Eisenmann officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery. 

 

Pallbearers were: Ray Burr, Tony Erpenbach, Henry Hauser, Louis Lautenbach, Arthur Opelt and Carl Opelt.

 

People from away here for the services were: Roland Schwellenbach, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Allie Schmidt and family, Mrs. Tony Spangler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Walter, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Wyer, Mrs. Bob Wyer, Mr. and Mrs. John Schmidt, Bernard Schmidt, and Franklin Walter, all of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Prock, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Ciokiewicz, Owen; Charles Dostol, Rice Lake.
