Frank Volk, 85, a pioneer of the Willard area, died May 7, in a Chicago Nursing home.

He was a native of Yugoslavia, where he grew to manhood, and later settled in Colorado, where he worked in the mines.  He was married there in 1901, to Mary Zitnik.

With his wife and children he arrived in Gorman in 1910.  He remained on the farm until 1910 (?).  His health failed and he moved to Chicago.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, with Rev. Fr. Aloysius Madic officiating.  Burial was made in the parish cemetery beside his wife.

A general rosary was said Sunday night at 8 at the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood.

Surviving are: four daughters, Mrs. Harold (Mary) Hunter of Joliet, Ill., Mrs. James (Frances) Matousek of Downers Grove, Ill., Mrs. Charles (Emma) Machan of Lyons, Ill., and Mrs. Jerome (Anna) Stremikis of Willard; also six sons, Rudolph and Edward of Willard, Gabriel of Chicago, Ill.; Albert of Madison, and Joseph and John of Minneapolis, Minn.  Thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive.
