Schlinkert, Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Golden - 8 June 1959)

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schlinkert observed their golden wedding anniversary Sunday with a special church service in their honor at 2 p.m. in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, where both have been members for 50 years.  The Rev. Robert Schlicht officiated.

An anniversary dinner was served at 5 o’clock in the American Legion dining hall, with 200 relatives, neighbors and other friend attending.  Open house was held there from 7 to 9 p.m.

Robert Eric Schlinkert was born June 5, 1885, to Mr. and Mrs. William F. Schlinkert in Jefferson County.  Elsie Wegner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wegner, was born on a farm in Pine Valley now owned by Fred Pollnow. Her parents came to America from Germany.

They were married June 8, 1909, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Globe, with the late Rev. Herman Brandt, father of John C. Brandt, Neillsville, city clerk, officiating.  At that time, the Rev. Mr. Brandt served both St. John’s and Immanuel Lutheran Churches.

The newlyweds went to housekeeping in a log cabin on a farm in Weston. In 1915 they replaced the log cabin with a new home and in 1920 they replaced the log barn with a modern barn.  They have continued to make their home on the farm to the present.

They have three children: Victor, on the home place; Mrs. Conrad (Helen) Kaiser, and Mrs. Earle (Edna) Lichter. They also have six grandchildren.

Guests at  the church service and dinner included: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Florin and Elmer, Fort Atkinson; Mrs. Bertha Schatzke of La Crosse; Mrs. Marvin Westphal and Monte of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kaiser and Robert of Worth, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Earle Lichter, Evon, Erline and Ellery of Westmont, Ill.; Mrs. Eunice Schilling, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Wolff and Janet of Jefferson; Mr. and Mrs. G.
