Gabrovic, Stephie (22 July 1924 - 25 October 2010)


Stephie Gabrovic, 86, of Willard died at the Neillsville Retirement Community Monday, Oct. 25, 2010. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.


Stephie Auman was born July 22, 1924, in Willard, the daughter of Frank and Angela (Frankel) Auman.  She was raised on the family farm and received her education in Willard.  As a young woman, Stephie moved to Chicago where she worked in a box factory.  She returned to Willard and was united in marriage to Ignac Gabrovic Oct. 31, 1941, in Neillsville.  They farmed his family’s farm for four years and then purchased their own farm northwest of Willard. In 1954, they moved to another farm near South Mound where they farmed until her husband’s death Oct. 4, 1989.  Stephie moved into Willard July 1, 1990. She resided in Willard until entering the Neillsville Retirement Community June 1, 2007.


She had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, loved refinishing furniture, flower gardens and her cat Bobby.


Stephie is survived by her daughter, Janet A. (Ben) Hiebing of Shawano; her  grandson, Mike Hiebing of Sheboygan; three sisters, Antonia Panyan of Esko, MN, Angela Verhunce of Stratford, and Mary Dergance of Neillsville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ignac; three brothers, Frank, Victor and Felix Auman; and one sister, Anne Haugen.
