Hendricks, Anton Frank "Tony" (5 December 1915 - 26 October 2010)

 

Anton F. "Tony Hendricks, age 94, of Thorp, died at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen, on Tuesday, October 26, 2010.

 

Thorp Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anton F. "Tony" Hendricks, age 94, of Thorp, died at the Clark County Health Care Center, in Owen, on Tuesday October 26, 2010.  There will be no services held.  Interment of cremains will take place in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery, in Thorp, at a later date.

 

Anton Frank Hendricks was born on December 5, 1915, in Minneapolis, MN, the son of Frank and Edna (Scott) Hendricks.  He was raised on the family farm in the Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp, and received his education at Golf School.  During the 1930’s, he worked in the Thorp area, logging, skidding and working in sawmills.  Tony was united in marriage to Ann Abramczuk on June 17, 1939, in Iowa.  He farmed the family farm and worked a few years fro Plautz Brothers, in Greenwood.  In the early 1950’s, Tony sold his cattle and quit farming, and then went to work at the Blue Moon Cheese Factory in Thorp, until retiring in 1974.  He remained on the family farm until entering the Clark County Health Care Center in September 2010.  He will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

 

He had many interests, but especially enjoyed gardening, reading, going out west to hunt deer, and traveling, including Alaska, Yellowstone, Pike’s Peak, Pennsylvania, Washington D. C. and to the Pacific Ocean.

 

He is survived by his wife, Ann, of Owen; his children: Brian (Joan) Hendricks of Owen, Peggy (Ron) Benzschawel of W. Dundee, IL, Roger Hendriks of Greenwood, Sandra (Cliff) Schofield of Greenwood, Bonnie (Ray) Hollinger of York, PA, and Mark Hendricks of Rockford, IL; his grandchildren: Debra Schofield (Bruce Kirn) of Greenwood, Tammy (Mike) Mireles of Haynesville, IL, Scott Schofield of Marengo, IL, Kimberly (Pat) Easterday of La Grange Park, IL, Kristine (David) Engel of Chicago, IL, Steven Benzschawel of Aurora, IL, Rebecca Hollinger of York, PA, and Jason Hendricks of Stevens Point, WI; great-grandchildren: Trista Sepp, Max Mireles, Ryan Easterday, and Kaitlyn Easterday; great-great-grandson, Kaden Lewis; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Karen Hendricks; three brothers: Alfred, Ross and William; and three sisters: Katie, Alta and Mildred.
