Kalsow, Ida (24 April 1880 - 9 March 1960)

 

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Ida Kalsow, 79, Rt. 3, Neillsville, who died Wednesday at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Mech, in Neillsville.  The Rev. Norman Lindloff of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church officiated at services from Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe.  Burial was made in the church cemetery.

 

Mrs. Kalsow, the former Ida Scheel, was born April 24, 1880, in Germany, and at the age of one year came with her parents to the United States.  They came directly to Clark County and settled on a farm in the Town of Weston; which was her home the rest of her life.

 

On November 11, 1903, she was married to the late Theodore Kalsow, who died in 1944.

 

Surviving are the following children: Martin, Hans, and Raymond Kalsow, all of Rt. 3, Neillsville; Mrs. Theodore (Velma) Mech, Neillsville; Mrs. Herbert (Esther) Sternitzky, Granton; and Mrs. John (Clara) Haag, La Crosse.  Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Clara Korn, Seward, Nebr., and Mrs. Anna Beckstrom, St. Paul, Minn.; a brother, Louis Scheel, Marinette; and 11 grandchildren.

 

She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Globe.

 

The Georgas Funeral Home made funeral arrangements.

 

Pallbearers were: Dennis Gall, William Appleyard, George Thoma, Harold Thoma, Henry Thoma and Gerhardt Scheel.

 

Robert Mitte, accompanied by Mrs. Clarence Wegner, sang, "What a Friend we have in Jesus" and "Nearer My God to Thee."

 

Folks from away here for the services were: Mr. and Mrs. John Haag, Tony and Jay Haag, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kunkel, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sternitzky, Ernest, Bonny, Betty and Barbara Sternitzky, Mrs. Fred Sternitzky, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Sternitzky and family, Ed Sternitzky, Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Sternitzky and Darrel, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Sternitzky, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Scheel, all of Granton.

 

Mr. and Mrs. George Koerner, Mrs. C. J. Beckstrom, Miss Louise Scheel, Miss Helene Kalsow, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon May, all of St. Paul (missing names)
