Burke, Anna (13 OCT 1889 - 30 MAY 1957)

 

Funeral services and requiem mass for Mrs. John Burke, aged 67 years of Boyd, Wis., were held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Boyd on Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. with the Right Rev. Monsignor Hilary Luther officiating.

 

Mrs. Burke (Anna Velchek) passed away at her home at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 30, 1957.  She had been in ill health for the past seven years.

 

She was born at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Oct. 13, 1889.  On Oct. 15, 1912, she married John Burke and lived at Thorp and the town of Worden until 1926, when they moved to Boyd where she had since resided.

 

Surviving relatives are her husband, five children, Mrs. Frank (Wilhelmina) McGivern of Marshfield; Mrs. Keith (Ethel) Calkins of Dallas, Texas; Mrs. Gerald (Patricia) Giese of Eau Claire; two sons, George of Boyd and John of Owen.  Also surviving are six sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Arthur Sanders of Marshfield, Mrs. Art Soderberg of Thorp, Mrs. Joseph Ludwig of Rudyard, Mont., Mrs. Frank O’Rourke of Witworth, Ind., Mrs. Adolph Schwiengruber of East Chicago, Ind., August Velchek of Thorp, Frank Velchek of Stevens Point; eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

 

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Society and St. Rita’s Circle.
