Malz, Josephine (3 APR 1867 - 13 SEP 1957)

 

Mrs. Josephine Malz, resident of Rhinelander for the last 63 years, died Friday morning at St. Mary’s Hospital following an extended illness.  She was 90 years of age.  Mrs. Malz was born April 3, 1867, near Cologne, Germany.  She came to the United States at the age of 13, settling in Oshkosh.  In 1894 Mrs. Malz moved to Rhinelander from Antigo.

 

She was a member of St. Anne’s Altar Society, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

 

Surviving are two sons, Joseph of Rhinelander, and George of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.); three daughters, Mrs. Mary Cloutier, Mrs. Lester (Agnes) Byrns and Miss Sue Malz, all of Rhinelander; three grandchildren, Sr. M. Cecilia of Chicago, Mrs. Gerald Herman, Thorp and Miss Marion Cloutier of Rhinelander, and four great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, and one daughter.  Mr. Malz died on Nov. 30, 1953.

 

Funeral services were held at Rhinelander at 9:30 a.m. Monday in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Rev. George Votruba officiating.  Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
