Salo, Arvo  (22 OCT 1927-03 DEC 2010)

 

Arvo E. Salo, 83, Wausau, died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at Christ Lutheran Church, Wausau. Rev. David Wetmore officiated. Entombment took place at Restlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.

 

Arvo Eugene Salo was born on Oct. 22, 1927, in Greenwood, to Gust and Marie (nee Rintala) Salo. He graduated from Withee High School. Due to a hunting accident and a long recovery time, he went to school for tool and die making which led him to working for Marmet Tool and Die for 40 years. On Aug. 24, 1968, he married Arline Traska at Zion Lutheran Church, Wausau, and the two spent 42 good years together. Throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing and often Arline joined him to go ice fishing. They were members of the Central Wisconsin Polka Club and rarely missed the opportunity to go out dancing together. They were members of Christ Lutheran Church since its inception.

 

Survivors include his wife, Arline Salo; a sister, Taimi (Robert) Briski; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Norman and Adeline Prahl, David and Marion Traska, Caroline and Stuart Kuehl and Dale and Helen Traska; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Elaine, Hugo, Joyce, Irja and Toibo.

 

Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, assisted the family with arrangements.
