Daisy Van Dake, 100, of rural Curtiss passed away Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2010, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, where she received excellent care in her last days of life.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Curtiss Alliance Church, 1106 N. Meridian St., Curtiss. Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service. Pastor Carl Swarr will officiate.

Daisy Amanda Holcomb was born April 9, 1910, on a farm near Pittsville to Otis Holcomb and Sylvia (Reid) Holcomb. She graduated from Pleasant Corners School and attended Wisconsin Rapids High School. In 1931, she married Louis Van Dake, and they lived in Wisconsin and Minnesota. During the 1940s and 1950s, they owned a photograph business in central Minnesota.

In 1971, they moved to a farm near Curtiss. Grandma Daisy, as she was known by her grandchildren, enjoyed gardening, flowers, caring for birds and animals, and was exceptionally talented in creating art work and floral arrangements. In recent years, she was cared for by her son, Donno, at his home in the Wisconsin countryside she loved.

Daisy is lovingly survived by her son, Donno Van Dake, of rural Curtiss and her daughter, Darla St. Martin of Gaithersburg, Md.; six grandchildren, Donno Kunshier, Dena Kunshier, Dara (Jeff) Stalberger, Catherine (Steve) Hammer, Michelle (Scott) Fischbach, John St. Martin; nine great-grandchildren, Jeff (Katie) Stalberger, Ryan Stalberger, Christine Stalberger, Bryce Fischbach, Brianna Fischbach, Zach Kunshier, Alexander Hammer, Angela Hugger, Julia Hammer; two great-great-grandchildren Oliver Stalberger and Aaron Eisenbacher; and a sister, Velta Jensen of Wildomar, Calif.

Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, Louis in 1989; a son, Louis Van Dake Jr., who died at birth; her parents; and two sisters, Olla (Earl) Robinson and Gladys Holcomb.

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Friends may send online condolences to www.maurinaschillingfuneralhome.com .
