Schultz, Lovina (2 September 1886 - 25 December 1960)

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) for Mrs. Albert (Lovina) Schultz, 74, of Neillsville, who was injured fatally in a Christmas day accident in West Allis.

The services will  be held from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the Methodist Church, in charge.  Burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Four other persons, including three members of the George White family, who lived in Loyal until recently, were hospitalized because of injuries suffered in the crash that took Mrs. Schultz’s life.  Mr. Schultz, who was driving, suffered bruises, as did Thomas White, eldest of the three White children, and Mrs. White.

In serious condition in Milwaukee County General Hospital was Mr. White, who had been employed as plant security chief at the Roddis division plant in Marshfield of the Weyerhauser Plywood Corporation.  Others, hurt were the Whites’ two youngest children, Phillip, one, and Anna, eight; and Sandra Lee Barton, a passenger in the other car.

The Schultz and White families had left Neillsville about 6 o’clock that morning for Milwaukee, where they were to have Christmas dinner with relatives.  They were seven blocks from their destination when the accident occurred.

According to word received here, the accident took place at the intersection of Highway 100 and Lincoln Avenue, when Mr. Schultz was turning off the highway.

The time of death was given as 12:03 p.m. Christmas Day, which was the same as the time reported for the accident.  However, it was reported here that Mrs. Schultz had lived for some time following the crash, and had talked to those around her; but was reported dead on arrival at the hospital at 12:45 p.m.  She had suffered a broken neck.

Mr. and Mrs. Schultz had resided in Neillsville since selling their farm in the Town of Washburn in 1946.  Mrs. White also was a former resident of Neillsville, and Mr. White is a son of Herbert White of Loyal.

Mrs. Schultz was born in Richland County on September 2, 1886, the daughter of William Henry Shilts and Laura (Hook) Shilts.  She received her education in Richland and Clark Counties.  She married Mr. Schultz September 27, 1907, in Clark County and the couple lived first in the Town of Washburn, then in Chicago for several years before returning here.

In addition to Mr. Schultz, she is survived by a sister, Mrs. William (Madlin) Poler of Neillsville.
