Weyhmiller, Catherine (10 JUL 1885 - 24 JUL 1952)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. George Weyhmiller, the former Catherine Elizabeth Crossen, were held at St. Anthony’s Cathoic Church at 9 a.m. Monday.  The Rev. Norbert King officiated at the requiem high mass.  Serving as pallbearers were Archie Smith, Edwin Kreuser, Bud Bremer, Lawrence Davel, Raphael Haas, and H. E. Catlin.

 

Mrs. Weyhmiller was a devoted worked in the several societies of which she was a member.  In her church organization, the Altar Society, she served as president from 1942 - 44, and as secretary in 1933 and 1934.

 

In the Legion Auxiliary she was president for the 1950 - 1951 term, and earlier served as secretary from 1946 - 49, and in the Royal Neighbors of America from many years she served as a manager and one of the graces.  The members of these organizations attended as a body.

 

A rosary service was held at the Myre Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Sunday.

 

Mrs. Weyhmiller was born July 10, 1885, in Shamrock.  She received her education in Cataract, the Loyal High School, and the Neillsville High School.  She taught for 4 years in the rural schools of Clark County.

 

She was married to George Weyhmiller, Oct. 29, 1907.  They had been residents of this vicinity for 45 years, having moved into the city from their farm home east of Loyal a few years ago.

 

Mrs. Weyhmiller’s death came as a shock to her many friends.  She had been going about her duties as usual when she was taken ill at her home Wednesday evening.  She was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, and died there at 4 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 1952.

 

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Robert L. (Armelia) Rossman, Eau Claire; two sons, Dale and Donald, Loyal; six grandchildren; three brothers, Edward and George Crossen, Seattle, Wash.; and Clifford Crossen, Bingham, Ill.

 

A brother, John, preceded her in death.

 

Those from out of town who attended the funeral services were from Colby, Marshfield, Owen, Madison, Abbotsford, Neillsville, Manitowoc, Sparta, Black River Falls, Seattle, Wash., Milwaukee, Mendota, Ill., Plainfield, Ill., and California.
