Corey, Charles (2 MAY 1864 - 29 SEP 1952)

 

Charles Corey, 88, died in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) Monday, Sept. 29, 1952 at 7:30 a.m.

 

He had been in poor health for several years and had recently been a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, for three months.  His death was caused by the complications of old age.

 

Mr. Corey was born in Lowell, Wis., May 2, 1864.  As a boy and young man he lived near Lowell and worked as a miller in the flour mills of that area until 1916.

 

In 1916 he purchased a farm southwest of Loyal and lived there until he moved into the city of Loyal ten years ago.

 

He was married to Stella Ann Honey, Oct. 19, 1887, at Watertown.  Her death occurred thirteen years ago.

 

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. August (Edith) Lemberg, Loyal; Mrs. Chal (Alice) Perkins, Greenwood; Mrs. Arthur (Sadie) Jacobsen and Mrs. Olive Bennett, Milwaukee; and one son, Howard Corey of Greenwood.

 

Three grandchildren also survived Mr. Corey.

 

One son and several sisters and brothers preceded him in death.

 

The body rested in state at the Myre Funeral Home until Wednesday morning, when it was taken to Watertown.  The Rev. James De Golier, minister of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at Watertown officiated at the graveside ceremony Wednesday afternoon, and burial was in the Oakhill Cemetery.
