Loyal, Wisconsin Water Tower (Paint Approval - 1954)

Contracts were signed with the W. E. Lane Co. of Barron for the painting of the Loyal water tower both inside and out. This followed the appearance before the council Tuesday night of two representatives from the firm.

According to their estimate, the job will cost somewhere between $800 and $1,000.  The job is not done on bids but on a time and materials basis. Their inspection of the tower revealed that there are many rust spots which will have to be given special treatment and this is included in the job of painting.  The firm also checks the structure for soundness.

The last work done on the tower was in 1946 and 1947 according to the records of the city clerk.

The subject of water rates was discussed briefly by council members and a letter was read from the Highway Commission in which they states that "no permit will be issued to allow a six-inch pipe to be place in the gutter and then covered with blacktop."  This requests was made by Peter Nysted who desired the permission in order to eliminate the steep pitch of his driveway between the curb and the sidewalk.

Council members were given an informal report on the financial outcome of the Loyal celebration on July 5th.  According to Mayor Erickson who made the summary, the expenses exceeded the receipts by around $60.
