Nelson, John Edward (24 March 1872 - 5 November 1954)

 

John Edward Nelson, 82, died suddenly of a heart attack at about 2:15 p.m. last Friday.

 

Mr. Nelson was born March 24, 1872, in Christiana, Norway.  He came to the United States with his parents when a small child and settled in La Crosse.  He later moved to the Town of Beaver and lived on a farm.  Later he bought 80 acres of land in the Town of Beaver.  He moved to the city of Loyal in 1931 where he had since resided.  In 1898 he was married to Martha Gretzner. He served as assessor of the Town of Beaver for ten years and as town chairman for five years.

 

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. J. A. (Geraldine) Rosar, Wauwatosa; one granddaughter, Mrs. Catherine Hossman, Richmond, Ind.; one brother, Fred Nelson, Colby; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Braun, Chelsea.  Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Myre Funeral Home and burial was in the Lutheran  Cemetery. The Rev. E. E. Aalto officiated. 

 

Pallbearers were: Julius Ehlert, Percy Vincent, Joe Pachal, Romaine Rossow, August Lemberg and Herbert White.

 

Margaret Ann Rottjer was organist and Mrs. Romaine Rossow sang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Abide with Me."
