Gardner, Linda  (16 JUNE 1869-25 JAN 1953)

 

Mrs. Linda Gardner, 83, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heiking, Sunday, Jan. 25, 1953, at 9:30 a.m.

 

Linda Lorraine Johnson was born in Sheboygan Falls June 16, 1869. At the age of five years she came to Clark County with her parents and settled on a farm in York township. Here she received her education and grew to womanhood.

 

She was married to George Gardner, Aug. 23, 1886, in the town of York. Mr. Gardner died in 1935. For the past 17 years she has lived at the Heikind home.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs, Fred (Vera) Heiking, Loyal, and one brother, Lyman Johnson of Oshkosh. Five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive her.

 

She was preceded in death by three children, the death of one son, Floyd occurred just a year ago. One brother and one sister also preceded her in death.

 

Mrs. Gardner had not been well for some time. Death was due to complications of old age.

 

Mrs. Gardner was a member of the Loyal Methodist Church, and funeral services were held there Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Virgil Nulton of Neillsville officiated. Burial was in the Loyal cemetery.

 

The hymns, "The Old Rugged Cross" and, "In the Garden" were sung by Mrs. Calvin Prior and James Colby with Mrs. Byron Zepplin as organist.

 

Pallbearers were William Tucker, William Butterbrodt, Chester Smith, Art Lautenbach, John Schweiger, and Harry Marvin.
