Appointment of James E. O’Mara as manager of the Wausau office of the Social Security Board was announced today by H. L. McCarthy, Regional Director of this Federal agency, with headquarters in Chicago.

Mr. McCarthy said Mr. O’Mara would assume is new duties at once. The Wausau office, at 208 ½ Washington Street, has been under the direction or Roger M. McCullough, who has been acting manager.  Mr. McCullough is returning to duties with the Bureau of Old-Age insurance in Washington, D. C.

O’Mara has been assistant regional representative of the Bureau of Old-Age Insurance in Chicago, serving in Region Six, which includes Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.  The Wausau office serves 12 counties: Vilas, Florence, Price, Oneida, Forest, Lincoln, Taylor, Langlade, Clark, Marathon, Wood, and Portage.

Social Security account numbers for the residents of these 12 counties are issued by the Wausau office, which also receives claims for lump-sum benefit payments now due under the old-age insurance plan.
