Granton, Wisconsin Personals (9 September 1938)

Mrs. Albert Strossen and daughter Joan of Sheboygan were visitors at the Carl Storm home in Granton and at the Frank Storm home at Chili, Tuesday.

Dr. Schwartz of Humbird, who at one time practiced medicine in Granton, was a caller in the village Monday. While here he called on Dr. Rath at the Clinic.

Dr. Karl Kastl, of the Granton Clinic, visited friends in Fond du Lac Friday, returning to Granton on Saturday.

Mrs. A. M. Wengel and children were visitors at Marshfield over the weekend.

Mrs. Minnie Marg is entertaining two nieces from Milwaukee. They are spending their vacation here.

Wilbur Billman and Herman Schoengarth have been spending a few days at the Schoengarth cottage.

R. F. Winn of Wisconsin Rapids was in town Saturday to transact some business.  While here he called at the Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Wilson home. Mr. Winn also called at the Dennis home in the Town of York.

"Bud" Winn, a former resident of Granton and now located at Wisconsin Rapids, has sold his restaurant business there.

Mrs. F. H. Davis, who has been operating a restaurant at Mosinee, has sold her business and is at present located at Marshfield.  Mr. Davis at one time owned a hardware store in Granton.

Dan Garbisch last week bought tow fine Holstein cows. The deal was made through George Wilson, local cattle buyer.

Carl Olson, auctioneer from Neillsville, was a business caller in Granton Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer McNamee of Vesper were callers in Granton on Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Foster and family and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Chamberlain of St. Paul, were visitors at the Lloyd Spry home over the weekend.

Little Charlotte and Artice Hubing spent some time last week with their grandparents in the Breese-Davis home.

Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Oens have gone to Plymouth where Mr. Oens has employment.

Quite a few Grantonites attended the funeral of the late Elmer Dennis at York Center last Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. Joe Summer, sons James and Stewart of Gary, Indiana, came Friday for a visit with her sister, Mrs. Lloyd Manley.

Mrs. Fuller spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Kearney Davis.

Mrs. Lloyd Manley, R. N., assisted at the Clinic Saturday evening, when several people that were in a car wreck were brought in.

Mr. and Mrs. Price Mallory are the proud parents of a baby boy born at the local Clinic, Tuesday, August 23.  He will be known as James Eldon Mallory.

Mrs. Arthur Hubing entertained Mrs. Hattie Hayden, Mrs.  Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. Truman Davis, and Mrs. Breese for dinner, Sunday in honor of her grandmother Breese’s birthday.

Mr. and Mrs. Eldred Davis and family had dinner with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Peaslee.  They report her sister Miss Lydia as gaining slowly.  Her leg which had a compound fracture was removed from the cast Saturday but her jaws which were fractured are still wired.

Miss Vivian Winter who works for Mrs. Lloyd Manley, spent Sunday with her sister.

Miss Estella Krejci of Neenah came up with Mrs. Joe Summer for a visit with relatives.

Mr. and Mrs. Grant Snyder and Miss Ruby Anthony called on Mrs. Lloyd Manley Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Chas Hubing, Mrs. Breese, Mrs. Fuller and Mrs. Truman Davis called on Mrs. Breese’s sister, Mrs. Wm. Anthony, Wednesday afternoon.

Word has been received here that Miss Marian Canfield (oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Canfield) formerly of Romadka and now of Newberg, Oregon, is married.

Mrs. Cora Converse and daughter Mrs. Al Carmody visited with Mrs. Lavina Downer in the Roy Wright home.

Mr. Joe Baraneck of La Crosse was a caller at the Chas. Bladl home one day last week. Mr. Baraneck is an old friend of Mr. Bladl whom he had not seen for a number of years.

Phil Bladl of Warren was a visitor at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas Bladl, a few days last week.

Jim Baker, Route One, was a business caller at the Granton Sentinel office last Saturday.

L. Bluett and F. Pietenpol returned last week from a few days outing at one of the northern lakes.

Mrs. Al Carmody, nee Iva Converse is visiting her mother, Mrs. Cora Converse for a few weeks.

Dr. E. L. Mason of Eau Claire visited Dr. R. R. Rath one day last week.

Helen Kaiser and Elaine Strossen of Sheboygan have been visitors at Wm. Storm home.

Mrs. Wm. Schmidtke returned Sunday from a visit with relatives in Rockford and other places in Illinois. Gene Turner accompanied her to Rockford, where he will spend the winter.  She was accompanied her by Beverly Turner who had spent the summer with relatives there.

Mrs. Gertrude Bartz returned Thursday from Ripon, where she had been visiting at the home of relatives.  On Saturday she returned to that city with Mr. and Mrs. Wm Happe, Sr., Chili, where on Sunday they attended the funeral of Wesley Happe, who was killed Wednesday night in an auto accident near Ripon.

Mrs. G. H. Bergemann and children, Grant, Ronald and Eileen, left Sunday to visit Mr. Bergemann, who is a surgical patient at Wisconsin General Hospital.  His condition is somewhat improved.

Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Macomber spent the weekend with relatives in Eau Claire.
