The Owen High School’s Commercial Club put on a spook dance recently.
Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Giese visited recently at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nobel Barsted in Glen Flora.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Buchanen left Sunday morning to visit her sister in Iola, and to see her brother, George Clifton, recently home from a hospital in Madison, where he underwent surgery. They will return home Monday.
The study group of the WSCS of Withee met at Mrs. Eva Mertens’ home Thursday afternoon, with Mrs. Harris Johnson as co-hostess.
Mrs. Herman Luris entertained the birthday club recently.
Ed Frederichs has received word of the birth of a daughter to his son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Frederichs, in Neenah, January 17.
Mrs. Elva Mertens visited Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Olson last Monday.
Mrs. Elva Mertens went to Stanley recently to visit her son, August Mertens, and his family. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Mertens and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mertens also visited there. The occasion was the baptism of their infant son.
Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Vater in Owen Friday were Mrs. Elva Mertens and Mrs. Harry Baer.
Recent visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Tormey were Ben Broeren of Bloomer and Mrs. Tormey’s daughter, Mrs. Nancy Ritter and small son, Milwaukee.
Rev. Beryl Knudsen of Nazareth Lutheran Church drove to Minneapolis January 17, to attend a Home Mission Committee meeting. He returned that evening.
Callers at the William Park home recently were David Yoder and son Jim, of Spanaway, Wash.
At the White School P. T. A. meting January 17, the highlight of the entertainment was the colored movies presented by the teacher, John Briski. These pictures were taken while he was in the army. The rest of the entertainment consisted of a spelldown by the children of the school. A lunch was served.
Mr. and Mrs. James Larson, who live six miles north of Withee, are the parents of a daughter born January 16.
Don’t forget the Blood Bank at the Owen High School auditorium February 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donors are badly needed to make the quota.
The Frenchtown Homemakers met at the home of Mrs. Glen Buchanan January 20. The study was on Youth.
