Thompson, Raymond E. #2 (26 FEB 1904 - 11 MAY 1962)

 

Funeral services for Raymond E. Thompson, 58, who died unexpectedly Friday, May 11, 1962, were held Monday afternoon.  Mr. Thompson died at St. Joseph’s Hospital of injuries received in an automobile collision near Fond du Lac on April. 14.

 

The Rev. F. H. Sprengler, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, conducted the service at 2 p.m. at the village hall, where the body was taken at noon from the Polnaszek Funeral Home.  Herbert Juneau was the organist and sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "I’m but a Stranger."

 

Pallbearers for the interment made in the Abbotsford Cemetery were Frank Brodhagen, David Bertz, Emil Daeillenbach, Al Holtzhausen, Norman Olsen and Eldon Viets.

 

Mr. Thompson was born Feb. 26, 1904 at St. Paul, Minn.  He attended schools in Neillsville and West Allis.  On July 23, 1927, he and Miss Laura Priebe were united in marriage at the Cross Lutheran Church, Milwaukee.  They lived there until 1946 when they moved to Abbotsford, where they owned and operated Ray’s Tavern.

 

He was a director of the Abbotsford Sportsmen’s Club and a member of the Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce and the Abbotsford volunteer fire department.

 

Surviving him are his widow, a son, Harley of Milwaukee, and two daughters, Mrs. Walter (Evonne) Miller of Macomb, Ill., and Mrs. Jay (Gloria) Viets of Thorp.  There are also three grandsons and three granddaughters.

 

A brother, Forrest Thompson, and a sister, Mrs. Galeda Larson, both of Neillsville, also survive.

 

Relatives and friends from away who attended the funeral were from Macomb, Ill., Milwaukee, Thorp, Neillsville, Stanley, Withee, Tomahawk and Minneapolis.
