Mantik, Nancy (27 AUG 1962)

Miss Nancy Mantik and W. Bruce Armstrong were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony Saturday afternoon, Aug. 27, 1962, at 1:30 o’clock at the Assembly of God Church at Milan.  The Rev. Morris Ohlin heard their exchange of vows before the altar decorated with palms and gladioli.  During the ceremony, Miss Nancy Jahnke, a friend of the bride, played "Whither Thou Goest" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mantik and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Armstrong of Abbotsford are the parents of the bridal couple.

For her wedding, the bride was attired in a floor length gown of silk organza with a Basque bodice that had short shirred sleeves and a modified scoop neckline outlined with re-embroidered Alencon lace.  The full hoop skirt over taffeta had re-embroidered Alencon lace appliques down the front and a bustle back detailed with fabric roses at the waist and ending in a chapel sweep.  Her pearl crown held a fingertip veil of French illusion.  She carried a bouquet of Amazon lilies and stephanotis with plumous ferns, tied with white ribbons.  She wore a cultured pearl necklace, a gift from the groom.

The bride was given in marriage by her father and three of her sisters served as attendants.  Miss Gloria Mantik was the maid of honor and the Misses Ruby and Sally Mantik were the bridesmaids.

They wore dresses made alike of taffeta with a bell skirt featuring a fabric bow at the waist and a round neckline.  They wore pearl necklaces, a gift of the bride.  Matching pill box headpieces and matching shoes and short white gloves completed their ensembles.  They carried reed baskets of white mums and greens tied with matching ribbons.

Moss green was worn by the maid of honor and apple green and mint green by the bridesmaids.

Jack Armstrong of Park Falls, the brother of the groom, was the best man and Don Peissig of Curtiss, a friend of the couple, and John Charles Burkholder of Hudson, a cousin of the groom, were groomsmen.

Corsages of bronze mums were given to the mothers of the bridal couple and corsages of white mums were given to the three grandmothers in attendance; Mrs. Ida Paulson of Los Angeles, a grandmother of the bride; Mrs. Tony Armstrong of Abbotsford, and Mrs. John Burkholder of Hudson, grandmothers of the groom.

After the ceremony, a reception for relatives and friends was held at the Abbotsford Village Hall.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong left on a honeymoon trip to Canada and northern Wisconsin.  After Sept. 10 they will be at home at Oak Park Terrace, Madison.

The bride, a 1962 graduate of Luther Hospital School of Nursing, Eau Claire, will be on the nursing staff at Madison General Hospital.  The groom will be a student at the University of Wisconsin.

Guests attending the wedding came from Los Angeles, Calif., Chicago, St. Paul, Hudson, Rockford, Watertown, Wausau, Athens, Eau Claire, Pepin, Ripon and Detroit.
