Wojciechowski, Darlene L. (1 SEP 1962)

Miss Darlene Louise Wojciechowski of route 3, Athens, and Delmer Anthony Vesely, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anthony W. Vesely of Milan, were united in marriage at 10:30 o’clock Saturday, Sept. 1, 1962, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Athens.  The rev. Cyril Smetana witnessed their exchange of vows before the high altar adorned with bouquets of white and orange gladioli.

Miss Wojciechowski is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank S. Wojciechowski.

The children’s choir sang for the nuptial high mass and at the offertory Lawrence Hartman sang "Ave Maria."

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of pure silk organza over tulle and white faille taffeta with a chapel train.  The molded bodice was carved to a V at the center of the waistline and the long silk organza sleeves tapered to points over the wrists where they were secured with covered buttons.  Floral appliques embroidered with tiny seed pearls outlined the scoop neckline.

The skirt of un-pressed pleats was also appliquéd down the front and on the skirt into the train.  The bridal veil of imported English illusion in fingertip length was secured to a pearl cornet with intertwining pearl loops connected with crystal stands.

Attending the bride as matron of honor, was Mrs. Gordon Grosskreutz of Milwaukee, the only sister of the bride.  Bridesmaids were Mrs. Bennie Mootz of Milan, a sister of the groom, Miss Natalie Schmidt and Miss Mary Ann Matysik, both of Athens.

The attendants wore identically styled ballerina length sheath gowns of peau de soie in antique gold for the four attendants and copper orange for the matron of honor.

The bodices of the sheaths were styled with fitted midriffs, short sleeves, satin yokes and princess lines.  The bell shaped overskirt was lined with net and detailed with a (the rest of the paragraph was unreadable on my copy) .

They carried wicker baskets with bronze and yellow mums and orange feathered carnations.

Miss Jayne Habeck was the flower girl and she was dressed like the bride and wore a halo of flowers.

Gordon Grosskreutz was the best man.  Bennie Mootz of Milan, Donald Pietrowski of Stetsonville, Marvin Venzke of Athens and Gordon Denzine of Abbotsford completed the wedding party.

Seating the guests at the church were James Wojciechowski, a brother of the bride, and Arnold Schaefer, a cousin of the groom.

Immediately following the ceremony brunch was served to 180 people.  A reception was held at 1:30 o’clock at the Trianon Ballroom and dinner for 350 guests was served at the school hall.

After the young people return from a honeymoon trip to the Black Hill and other points of interest, they will make their home in Milan where the groom is the post master.  The bride is employed at Wausau for Drs. Flannery and Harper.
