Balfanz, George (10 May 1880 - 11 Jan 1914)

 

Sunday George Balfanz suffered a stroke of apoplexy and died that afternoon at his home north of this city.  Deceased was born in Sauk County on May 10, 1880, and with his brother came to this county in Aug., 1912, purchasing the Filter farm.  He was a member of the Lutheran church and was an able and conscientious gentleman and one, who in the brief time of his residence here, gained many very good friends.  Funeral services were held at the house Tuesday morning, being conducted by the Lutheran minister from Loyal and the remains were taken to Sauk County at noon for burial.  Deceased is survived by his wife and one child.  Also by five brothers and two sisters: Charles of this county, William and Edward of Sauk County, John of Mason City, Iowa, Henry of Rockville, Iowa, Mrs. Anita Thompson of Sauk County and Mrs. Anna Jacobi of Iowa.
