Hansen, Emil V. (3 August 1880 - 24 May 1961)

Emil V. Hansen, 80, died at a nursing home in Waupaca May 24.

Mr. Hansen was born in Chicago, Ill., August 3, 1880, and when a young man came to Withee, where he lived until his health became so poor that his wife, Elizabeth, could not care for him alone.  He was then taken to Stevens Point and finally to Madison General Hospital for treatment. About two months ago he was moved to the Riverview Nursing Home in Waupaca.

Mr. Hansen at one time clerked in a store in Chicago and also in a store in Withee; but his occupation as a whole was farming.  He had a successful small farm, where he raised chickens for layers and kept a small herd of cows.

Upon his retirement some 10 years ago his health failed, and they sold their farm, buying a house in Withee, where his wife still lives.

All his life he has been a member of the Danish Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife and a niece and husband, Dr. and Mrs. Cook of Stevens Point; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Saturday from Nazareth Lutheran Church. Burial was made in the Nazareth Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. Beryl Knutsen officiated.
