Meyer, William J. (7 November 1886 - 1 July 1961)

 

William J. Meyer, 74, of Loyal died Saturday morning of a heart attack at the Greenwood Nursing home.  The funeral service was held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal, of which he was a member.  The Rev. Norbert E. King officiated. Burial was made in the parish cemetery.

 

Mr. Meyer was born November 7, 1886, in Neillsville and was married to Jennie McKimm on April 24, 1906, at Neillsville.  He came in 1910 to Loyal, where he operated a barber shop until his retirement in 1948.  He was active in public affairs, serving as village clerk, treasurer and justice of the peace.

 

He is survived by three children: Edward of Loyal, Mrs. Henry (Gertrude) Keller, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Mrs. Foster (Ruth) Will of Owen, six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Lambert of Neillsville.

 

Pallbearers were: Frank Degenhardt, Leo Rueth, Herb Braun, William Theisen, Sr., Paul Davel, and Steve Brussow.
