Swanson, Charlene L. (10 DEC 1955)

The Rev. Charles J. Swanson, pastor of the Loyal Methodist Church, assisted by the Rev. Don Heinrich, pastor of Bethany Evangelical United Brethren Church of Itasca, Ill., officiated at the marriage of his daughter, Miss Charlene Linnea Swanson and Allen William Carlsen, both of Itasca, Saturday, Dec. 10, 1955.  First Presbyterian Church of Itasca was the setting for the 8 p.m. nuptial rites.

The bride wore a princess style gown of ivory satin terminating in a long train.  A fingertip veil and bouquet of white orchids and gardenias completed her bridal ensemble.

Gowned in coral berry frocks two cousins of the bride were her aides.  Mrs. Lorraine Stenstrom, Jacksonville, Florida, served as matron of honor, and Mrs. Eleanor Brown, Lombard, Ill., as bridesmaid.  Tea roses composed their bouquets and the crowns woren in their hair.

The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold E. Carlsen of Itasca, chose his friend, Donald Satterfield of Northbrook, Ill., for his best man, and his brother, Eugene Carlsen of Itasca, for his groomsman.  Two brothers-in-law, Paul Priess, Lake Zurich, Ill., and Fred Stevens, Chicago, were ushers.

Linda Flaum, Daggett, Mich., a cousin of the bride, was flower girl, and William Carlsen, Itasca, nephew of the groom, was ring bearer.

Mrs. Swanson was present at her daughter’s wedding in a frock of black net over blue taffeta and the groom’s mother wore a brown and black taffeta dress.

A supper for 200 guests were served in the church parlors.

Upon the return of the newlyweds from a honeymoon in New Orleans, they will reside in Itasca.

The new Mrs. Carlsen is a graduate of the high school in Hermansville, Mich., and is employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in Chicago.  Her husband is a graduate of the University of Illinois, School of Architectural Engineering, and has a position with the Allen-Skidmore-Owanga and Merrill, architectural engineers in Chicago.  He plans to return to the University in February for his master’s degree.
