Plautz, Philip  (22 JAN 1934-22 MAR 2011)

 

Philip M. Plautz, 77, Greenwood, died at his home on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood. Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.

 

Philip Manuel Plautz was born on Jan. 22, 1934, in Neillsville, the son of Steve and Alice (nee Robey) Plautz. He was raised in Willard and received his education at Willard State Graded School and was a 1953 graduate of Greenwood High School. After high school, he worked at Plautz Brothers in Greenwood, driving truck, and entered the U. S. Army Reserves. He moved to Milwaukee in 1954 where he worked in construction as a truck driver. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1954-57. He married Joyce Johnson on March 18, 1989, in Milwaukee. He was a truck driver his entire life. After his retirement in 1996, they lived in West Allis until his wife retired in 2005, at which time they moved to Greenwood. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He had many interests, but especially loved sitting on his deck, feeding birds and squirrels, bon fires, and watching sports. He looked forward to going to Chicago every year TO EXPLORE THE CITY.

 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Joyce; four children, Steve Plautz, Diane (Paul) Traider, Becky (Bob) Pileggi, and Bill (Liz) Nay; two brothers, Floyd (Virginia) Plautz, and Paul (Rosalie) Plautz; one sister-in-law, Judy Ormond; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bob Plautz.
